It seems like it was only yesterday when Lady Gaga and Adam Driver nearly broke our timelines with that sweatered, slope-side Instagram from the House of Gucci set. Musing over their delightfully ’80s garb, their luxurious knits, and their “hot young parents on vacation before kids” vibe, we had no idea what we were in for.
We knew the two superstar leads would play fallen couple Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, and that the former was convicted in real life for plotting the latter’s murder. We also knew that the cast was dripping in A-listers from Al Pacino to Jeremy Irons and Salma Hayek. But we didn’t know that this project would give us photos of Gaga hand-feeding Driver a pastry the size of his face; or footage of her signing the cross to the “father, son, and House of Gucci;” or an out-of-body spiral over Jared Leto’s unbelievable transformation for his role. This Ridley Scott production, it just gives and gives.
The latest of its gifts to us is the new House of Gucci trailer, in which Gaga’s Patrizia takes center stage. “I don’t consider myself a particularly ethical person, but I am fair,” she says ominously in the preview, donning a red puffer snow suit while sipping on a little cup of espresso. The clip teases more of her journey with the iconic atelier: meeting the family, marrying Maurizio, falling out of love, becoming a jealous ex, and ultimately hiring hitmen.
One standout scene features a tense exchange between Patrizia and Maurizio about the family business. “At least it’s my name, sweetie,” he says. “Our name…sweetie,” she corrects him.

Speaking to Wall Street Journal recently, Gaga opened up about preparing to play a complicated, real-life role. “I knew I was about to play a murderer,” she said, per Billboard. “I also knew how Tony feels about Italians being represented in film in terms of crime. I wanted to make a real person out of Patrizia, not a caricature.”
She added, “I felt the best way to honor Maurizio and Italians was for my performance to be authentic, from the perspective of a woman. Not an Italian-American woman, but an Italian woman.”
House of Gucci opens in theaters on Nov. 24.
