Billie Eilish was Jimmy Kimmel’s guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, and their 13-minute interview had a lot packed in: Eilish literally punched Kimmel at one point, called him out for making her look “a little stupid” the last time she was on his show, and also candidly discussed what it was like meeting the royal family at the premiere of No Time to Die, including Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Regarding her meeting with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge along with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Eilish said, via Entertainment Tonight, she was aware of the royal protocol but didn’t exactly memorize all of it. “Oh yeah. Oh yeah. There was a whole list of things [for royal protocol],” Eilish said. When asked if she paid attention to those rules, she answered no.
“But I tried to. I was planning on it, and they were just so normal,” Eilish said. “They didn’t make me feel like, ‘Oh, I’m scared, I can’t talk to them.’ They were very complimentary and they had all these questions for me. They were just very friendly and funny and sweet. I don’t know, I can’t complain. It was amazing.”
What was less amazing for Eilish was her memory of Kimmel making her look bad the last time she was on his show when he quizzed her about 1984 pop culture references from when he had been her age. She interrupted their interview to bring it up. “Wait, really quick. Do you remember last time I was here? And you made me look a little stupid.”
Kimmel said, “Well, yeah, accidentally. I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“I thought it was funny because I was playing along, and everybody thought I was actually serious and didn’t know anything,” she said.
“As I recall, you weren’t familiar with Van Halen, and I was like, ‘What!’” he said.
She said, “Yes, there was a lot things you asked, and I was like, ‘I don’t know.’” On the criticism Eilish got for claiming she didn’t know who Van Halen was, she shrugged it off, “It was funny—I didn’t really care.” But she felt it was only right to test Kimmel on his Gen Z knowledge. Watch how that went below—and the moment she punched him later to complete her years-old bucket list:
