Peopleadditionally ran a statement from Asghari’s manager, Brandon Cohen. Cohen said that he is “proud to celebrate and confirm the engagement. The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them.” Cohen said the ring Asghari proposed with was designed by NYC jeweler Roman Malayev. “He couldn’t be happier to be involved and make this one-of-a-kind ring,” Cohen said.
Spears and Asghari’s engagement comes nearly three months after Spears testified about her conservatorship and revealed she couldn’t get married to Asghari under its restrictions.
“I’d like for my boyfriend [Sam Asghari] to be able to drive me in his car,” she started, via Vulture. “And I wanna meet with a therapist once a week, not twice, and I want him to come to my home. Cause I know I actually do need a lil therapy. And I would like to be able to progressively move froward. I want the real deal. I want to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship that I’m not able to get married or have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside my body right now, but I wanna get pregnant. I want it taken out so I can start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have any more children. So basically, this conservatorship is doing me WAY more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”
