On Saturday, Britney Spears shared a candid Instagram post addressing her fans for their criticisms of the dancing videos she often posts on her grid. She also referenced her father, Jamie Spears, and his control over her conservatorship.

“For those of you who choose to criticize my dancing videos,” she begins. “… look I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think !!!! ”

Britney was also critical of her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, for singing her music at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.

“I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes !!!!!, she wrote. “My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!! This conservatorship killed my dreams … so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill … yet people still try !!!! ”

Recently, Jamie Lynn has positioned herself as an ally of her sister. On June 28, she posted a series of videos addressing the controversy involving her family.

“I’ve made a very conscious choice in my life to only participate in her life as her sister, as an aunt to those boys,” Jamie Lynn said. “I am not my family. I am my own person. I am speaking for myself.”

Britney also added her thoughts that seemed to take aim at the 2021 The New York Times documentary about her, Framing Britney Spears:

I didn’t like the way the documentaries bring up humiliating moments from the past … I’m way past all that and have been for a long time !!!!”

This comes nearly a month after Britney gave her testimony about her conservatorship on June 23.

During her video-call testimony she said, in part:

“Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad and my dad acted like he didn’t know,” the singer said. “…And that is why I am telling you this again, two years later, after I have lied and told the whole world, I am okay and I’m happy. It’s a lie.

“…I just thought that maybe if I said that enough I might become happy because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it? But now I am telling you the truth, okay, I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane.”

In an Instagram post following her testimony, Britney spoke out about the conservatorship alongside a quote that reads: “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”

“I apologize for pretending like I’ve been ok the past two years,” she wrote “… I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me … but honestly who doesn’t want to capture their Instagram in a fun light !!!!

She continued: “I feel like Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence … existence … and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through and hey it worked … so I’ve decided to start reading more fairy tales !!!!!”
