Britney Spears Is Vacationing With Her Boyfriend Sam Asghari in Hawaii Following Court Testimony

Britney Spears was photographed in Maui alongside her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, after the couple arrived there on Thursday, per People.

“Britney is excited to be back in Hawaii. It’s her favorite place. She can’t get enough. She would move there if she could,” a source told the publication. “Sam has a career in LA though so it would be hard for him to move.” The source added: “This past week was very stressful for both of them. They are trying to enjoy a few quiet days together.”

The trip follows Spears’s testimony on Wednesday at her conservatorship hearing.

“I just want my life back,” she said in an address by phone that was broadcast in the courtroom, per The New York Times. She added: “I shouldn’t be in a conservatorship if I can work. The laws need to change. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. I don’t feel like I can live a full life.”

“I don’t feel like I can live a full life,” Britney told Judge Brenda Penny. “I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it? But now I am telling you the truth, okay, I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane.”

She also said in her testimony that the conservatorship kept her from removing her IUD to try for another child.

Last week, ELLE.com spoke to legal experts about what happens next with the “#FreeBritney” battle.

Jan Costello, a law professor and mental health law specialist at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, said that Spears does not necessarily have to be trapped in this conservatorship forever.

“Precisely because there is such a loss of liberty and decision-making power, it isn’t as if once you’re under a conservatorship, you’re always under a conservatorship,” Costello said. She added that Spears would have to prove that she has the “capacity” to handle her life and her choices.

But, she said, there are complications: “I can see where she thinks, ‘Okay, the results of that evaluation may be negative, may be harmful to me,’” Costello said. “But the only way to combat that is to ask the court to appoint an independent evaluator to evaluate her. Or she can retain a private person to evaluate her, but it sounds like she’s not able to do that because she doesn’t have control of her money.”
