MONTH OF June
Happy birthday month to you, Gemini! This season brings a welcome opportunity for new initiatives, fresh starts and focusing on your solo projects. But go easy on those! Your ruling planet, messenger Mercury, will also spend the first three weeks of June retrograde in YOUR sign, bringing a double dose of mischief. A midmonth clash between tough Saturn and disruptive Uranus (the second of three this year) could leave you confused about which direction to really go in.
With expansive Jupiter and creative Neptune also turning retrograde later in the month, you may just want to take a short break when it comes to some of your bolder dreams. Don’t worry: You’ll still have plenty of chances to turn those Gemini-season epiphanies into something tangible and even profitable, especially after the June 20 summer solstice. The last week of June could bring deep emotions to the surface—or news of a financial windfall.
The Sun is in Gemini until June 20
What do you most want for yourself this month, Gemini? There’s no better time to ask yourself that question than when the Sun is in your sign. This year, though, the answer may not be entirely clear. There’s just so much that’s new and uncertain as the pandemic (hopefully) winds down. Where to begin? Whatever way you choose to celebrate your radiant self, with your ruling planet, Mercury, retrograde until Tuesday, June 22—in YOUR sign no less—there could be a double dose of cosmic static on the line. You’ll need to be vigilant with your electronic data and devices, strengthen passwords and back up important files to the cloud.
On the upside, you’ll feel social and energized. But watch your words and curb those impulsive blurts. Your witty snark may sting more than you intend—and come back around to sting YOU. Best bet? Hold off on big, splashy launches until June 22. Got any unfinished business? Mercury retrograde is an ideal time to rewind, revisit a personal project and finish up loose ends worth completing.
Mars and Pluto get heated on June 5
On June 5, a tense face-off between two of the most hotheaded planets ripples across your financial axis. Has your work or lifestyle become a bit too intense to keep up with? Today could push you over the edge. With stressful Mars in your money zone opposing deep-diving Pluto in your intimate and spiritual eighth house, your day-to-day demands could cut into quality time for inner exploration or a search for a soulmate connection. If you’ve gotten way too absorbed in a relationship or obsessed with an agenda, this cosmic clash could snap you out of that space. Earth to Gemini! You might actually welcome this so-called reality check, even if it feels jarring.
The June 10 Gemini solar eclipse ignites a supercharged fresh start
Your “personal new year” arrives on June 10 with the year’s only Gemini new moon, dressed and ready for action as a potent solar eclipse (https://astrostyle.com/learn-astrology/solar-and-lunar-eclipses/)!
Seeds planted now will be especially “biodynamic” under the catalyzing beams of an eclipse. Ready to make a radical new start or to pivot 180 degrees to a different approach? Ready or not, a change is likely in order. (It really is that serious, Gemini!) The actions you take now will play out between now and the Gemini full moon on December 18. You might also look back to November 30, 2020, when a Gemini lunar eclipse set some charged-up events in motion.
Although eclipses can bring sudden moves, you’re still advised to think first (and carefully!) before swan-diving into anything you can’t leap back out of fast. The eclipse will be in a tight conjunction to Mercury retrograde and a wide square to foggy Neptune, indicating that you definitely need to consider how your actions will play out in the long term.
Pro tip: Try the 10/10/10 technique for decision-making by Suzy Welch, one of our favorite techniques. Ponder how you might feel about this decision in ten minutes, ten months and ten years. Then sit with it a little longer and reflect!
Saturn and Uranus clash again on June 14
Let go to grow? On June 14, stalwart Saturn and disruptive Uranus will meet in the second of class=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” this year’s three challenging 90-degree squares, shaking up the status quo. A part of you is ready to embrace the new and unexplored. But deep subconscious feelings, perhaps ones that show up as anxiety, control issues or insomnia, could gnaw at you—especially the closer you get to taking a risk.
Squares are a balancing act, and with wise, cautious Saturn in your expansive ninth house, looking before leaping is advised. Think: calculated risks. Erratic Uranus in Taurus and your healing, obscured twelfth house, coughing up all kinds of buried emotions and even traumas. So naturally, as you consider trying something big, bold and untested, your brain’s “survival machinery” will go into overdrive.
Look back to February 17 (the first Saturn-Uranus square)—and ahead to December 24, the final square of 2021. You’re at the midpoint now, and it’s important to make sure you pause and get ample support, especially if deeper healing is called for. With Saturn retrograde until early October, summer and fall are ideal for going back a few steps and perhaps working with an experienced therapist, coach or guide to resolve any core issues and make sure you’re thoroughly prepared before making a major life change.
Does an offer seem too good to be true? With Uranus in your twelfth house of hidden agendas, conduct due diligence, even (and especially) if you’re thinking of getting involved in a serious endeavor. If you’re thinking of starting a business, returning to school or publishing any work about your life, make sure you’ve covered all the bases as personal-life curveballs could interrupt even the best-laid plans this year. The solution? Take it slow and steady, with a proper balance between exciting goals and emotional self-care.
It’s Cancer season (and summer solstice) starting June 20
The most action-packed calendar day of thclass=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” e month is also the longest day of the year. Sunday, June 20, serves up the summer solstice, plus it’s also Father’s Day AND the beginning of Cancer season, which will bring a lucrative boost to your second house of work and finances. Celebrate the Sun reaching its highest point in the sky, along with the dads in your life, with a touch of decadence. This is definitely a day to treat yourself and someone who’s been a rock-solid source of support for you.
Over the next four weeks, take a close look at your budget, schedule and routines. Can you think of ways to work smarter instead of harder? With domestic Cancer ruling the skies for the next four weeks, give thought to any home-based work or business you’re involved in. Your Cancer season mission: Build more security through consistent habits. Small changes can have a big impact when you practice them daily!
But Jupiter also goes retrograde on June 20, slowing your professional roll
Oh wait, there’s one more thing on Sunday (and it’s kind of a big deal)! Expansive Jupiter will also begin its annual retrograde backspin on Sunday, June 20, a U-turn that will last until October 18. A fast-moving professional project could slow down or require some rethinking.
A little over a month ago, on May 13, Jupiter barreled into Pisces and your tenth house of career, recognition and long-term goals. If you’ve been plowing ahead with a major professional endeavor, Jupiter retrograde could tap the brakes. That’s at least true until July 28, when Jupiter will slide back a sign into Aquarius and your ninth house of travel, higher learning and entrepreneurship. Get those vacations in for the next four weeks because it may be harder for you to slip away after that.
Mercury retrograde ENDS June 22
At last! The three weeks of technology, communicatioclass=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” n and plan-making mixups, courtesy of Mercury retrograde, are over. While you may still feel some “retroshade” from Mercury’s shadow period until July 7, it’s safe to send in your phone for an upgrade or make that important “launching soon” announcement without worrying about meddlesome Mercury. Now that your ruling planet is behaving again, what conversations do you need to have? Let the talks begin!
Close the deal at the June 24 Capricorn full moon
When the Capricorn full moon arrives on Thursday, June 24, intense emotions can surge to the surface and everything will feel extreme. This annual lunar event will flood your eighth house of intimacy and investments, demanding that you look closely at the details of everything and leave no stone unturned. Have you been ignoring your intuition—a nagging inner voice telling you to peer beneath the surface? This full moon brings secrets to light, but be warned: It can also stir up intense emotions like jealousy and fear.
On the upside, you could receive a financial windfall, close a lucrative joint venture or see a real estate or legal matter come to fruition. With Mercury no longer retrograde, this could be the perfect day to seal the deal! Is there a shared investment about to reach maturity, or perhaps a legacy or inheritance to deal with? A relationship could turn ultra-official, and there could be engagement or pregnancy news for some Geminis. Let yourself be vulnerable under these exquisite moonbeams. Look back to the January 13 Capricorn new moon for clues about what’s been growing and ripening since then—because harvest time is now.
One more retrograde (Neptune) starts June 25 (total of 4 planets)
On June 25, hazy Neptune will start its annual retrograde, reversing through Pisces and your career zone until December 1. Biting off too much could leave you exhausted and overwhelmed. Take stock of which projects and professional connections energize you and which ones leave you feeling drained. Ditch or delegate things that zap your mojo.
If you’ve been engaged in a passive-aggressive power struggle with an authority figure, consider just dropping it—or turning your attention elsewhere. Rarely does anyone win these kinds of battles. The tenth house rules father figures, so look honestly: Are there some dad or family-of-origin issues being played out here?
During this summer-long transit, soul-searching about your career path could be in order. In some cases, Neptune retrograde actually rolls BACK the fog, helping you see things more clearly. You may glimpse a manipulative person’s motives or, on the other side of the coin, find heart-stirring compassion for a person you’ve been judging or treating harshly. (You know who they are, Gemini.) We’re not suggesting you bury your head in the sand; just consider whether someone is doing the best they can with what they’ve got, as the saying goes. Give up trying to change them and accept them instead. You’ll free yourself—and them—in the process.
Venus gets cozy in Cancer on June 2
So much of June is about starting fresh, trying new things and making potentially radical changes. But your love life is going in the opposite direction, toward stability and consistency, Gemini. On June 2, romantic Venus enters Cancer and your stabilizing second house until June 27. The other love planet, passionate Mars, has been in Cancer since April 23, and will hang out here with Venus until June 11.
While there might be a few stressful expenses or demanding work projects to navigate, hosting the love planets in this chic zone gives you the green light to splurge on a luxe gift for yourself and/or someone special. Is it time to elevate your wardrobe, hair and makeup routines to a more polished level? Allow us to remind you, Gemini: You’re worth it. Same goes for the food you put in your body, the textiles you sit and sleep on and the artwork you hang. Level up and you’ll find that a little bit goes a long way. This is a month for “quality over quantity.”
Mars roars into Leo on June 11
Hey Gemini, you don’t have to get SO serious that you lose your sense of humor (as if!). From June 11 to July 29, Mars will visit Leo, heating up your third house of communication and local affairs. As the natural ruler of this zodiac zone, you should be in your element. Bring on the witty banter, playful debates and the treasure hunt for safe local hotspots where you can dine and commune al fresco.
Just beware of a tendency to come on too strong or argumentative. Intense Mars can add an unintentional edge to the way you express yourself. Remember, everyone’s entitled to their opinions, so don’t confuse yours with facts or push it on others. Sparks could fly with a friend or someone you meet while casually walking around or hanging out. If the chemistry is mutual, explore it!
Venus joins Mars in Leo on June 27
The month ends with even more fun, when vivacious Venus joins Mars in Leo from June 27 until July 11. Coupled or single, this is an excellent time to revive your social life. Your clever tongue has never been sharper or more on point. When bold Mars and alluring Venus team up in this silver-tongued sector, few can resist your charms!
The time is NOW, Gemini. On June 10, a rare Gemini solar (new moon) eclipse ignites your first house of solo endeavors and passion projects. You could be invited to present your work, share your ideas and step into the spotlight. Since eclipses bring surprise events, a chance to boost your visibility could come out of the blue. Stay camera-ready!
You’ll be less inclined to mug for the lens at the June 24 Capricorn full moon, which illuminates your private eighth house of joint ventures, power moves and behind-the-scenes work. An opportunity to invest your time and talents—and perhaps a bit of money—could help you multiply your moolah. If you’re considering a real estate deal (buying, selling or moving), these moonbeams will support your efforts. Look for ways you can team up with well-connected collaborators for mutual gain.
