Kate Middleton Has Reportedly Been ‘Reaching Out to Meghan a Lot More’ Since Baby Lili’s Birth

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed a baby girl named Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana to their family on June 4, but Harry’s side of the family in the U.K. have not yet met the new addition.

A source told Us Weekly that Meghan’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has been getting in touch with Meghan following Lili’s birth:

“Kate has been reaching out to Meghan a lot more since [Lilibet] was born, she’s sending [notes and] gifts and trying to build up a relationship,” the source said. “The firm has been instructing staffers to reach out more to Harry and Meghan to get them to soften a bit.”

This report also comes after Meghan and Harry’s explosive March Oprah Winfrey interview in which the couple revealed their deep frustrations with the royal institution, aka “the firm.”

One of the rumors Oprah addressed in the interview was the report that, ahead of Meghan and Harry’s wedding, Meghan made Kate cry. Meghan told Oprah the opposite was true but that the she and her sister-in-law had worked things out.

“No. [I didn’t make Kate cry],” she said. “No, no, the reverse happened. And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing and she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone. To just take accountability for it….Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true. I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her. I think it’s really important for people to understand the truth, but also I think a lot of it that was fed into by the media. Look, I would hope that she wouldve wanted that corrected. And maybe in the same way that the Palace wouldn’t let anybody else negate it, they wouldn’t let her, because she’s a good person, and I think so much of what I have seen play out was this idea of polarity where if you love me you don’t have to hate her, and if you love her, you dont need to hate me.”

A week after Lili’s arrival, a reporter asked Kate if she had any wishes for her baby niece. Kate smiled and responded, “I wish her all the very best,” Kate said. “I can’t wait to meet her. We haven’t met her yet. I hope that will be soon.”
