In just days, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will make their first big public appearance together since they welcomed their second child, daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana, in June. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to appear at the Global Citizen Live concert in New York City’s Central Park on Saturday. They will speak about the importance of achieving global vaccine equity amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Page Six got a little detail from friends of the Duke and Duchess about how they feel about their trip to New York City. The couple “can’t wait to explore the Big Apple in the ‘romantic fall,’” those friends told Page Six. The outlet reported that their children Archie and Lili are not expected to join them on the work trip.
Meghan was last in New York City in September 2019, where she watched her friend Serena Williams play in the U.S. Open tennis tournament. This will be her and Harry’s first public trip to the city together.
The Duke and Duchess have spent their summer on parental leave. In August, People got insight from royal reporter and Finding Freedom co-author Omid Scobie about how the couple is faring in California as non-working royals.
According to Scobie, Meghan and Harry learned to keep “some of the toxicity at an arm’s—and ocean’s—length away,” per People.
“They seem to be existing in a different place, and that place is much healthier,” Scobie told the outlet. “Meghan famously spoke about that it was not enough to survive—we are now in the thrive chapter.”
