Last night, the fashion crowd arrived in full force to the 2021 CFDA Awards at The Pool + The Grill in New York City, and this year, thankfully, felt like a true return to form—bold looks and all (we’re big fans of Kid Cudi’s custom bridal gown by ERL in particular). Emily Blunt injected a welcome dose of humor to the affair as host, while one of the night’s big winners, Christopher John Rogers, had the room on the verge of tears when he accepted the award for American Womenswear Designer of the Year with a heartfelt, emotional speech. ELLE’s own Nina Garcia reflected on her Latina heritage and the importance of diverse storytelling when she received the Media Award in Honor of Eugenia Sheppard.
