Sometimes, we find ourselves feeling blue for various reasons. The worst happens to the best of us, and we all try to find a refuge. We want something to clear our heads and uplift our mood until we find our best selves again.
If you are familiar with flying high in the intoxicating skies, you have undoubtedly heard about delta-8 THC. However, if you are new to getting to know psychoactive cannabinoids, you still might have seen this product’s name pop up here and there.
This product is most often linked to serenity and clarity. Cannot wait to find out more about it? Stay with us as we walk you through steps regarding this mild psychoactive substance.
What Is Delta-8 THC?
The cannabis plant has over 100 minor cannabinoids present. Contrary to cannabis, cannabinoids have not been studied as widely. Delta-8 THC is a minor cannabinoid that demands more research given its sudden incline in the market.
Delta-8 THC contains psychoactive properties and comes from the hemp plant. The compound is put through various forms of purification methods to create delta-8 THC products. A few of these products include edibles, infused flowers, gummies, tinctures, oils, vape cartridges, and many more.
The hemp and marijuana plant are quite similar, since they come from the same cannabis family; however, hemp contains a lot less THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) concentration than marijuana. This contributes to delta-8 THC products being far less potent than marijuana extracts.
While you might have heard about the intoxicating effects of marijuana, delta-8 also provides similar effects; however, they are mild. So, if you are looking for a drug to take, delta-8 will prove an excellent choice given its gentle buzz along with the effects of euphoria and relaxation.
Vendors have claimed this strain of the cannabis industry has been getting a lot of attention since it was legally added to the market. The growing fame is because of the product’s relaxation properties but also for one more reason. People often look for a drug that will get them high but will still keep their head clear. Delta-8 will most certainly get you high, but, rest assured, you will not lose your mind.
This hemp-derived compound has picked up momentum nationwide, and we suspect it will keep going on an incline for a while. It is growing not just as a fun party favor but also as a business, and quite a profitable one at that.
Does Delta-8 THC Get You High?
Delta-8 is a psychoactive cannabinoid, which means it will definitely get you high. However, this high is not as extreme as others, such as delta-9 THC.
However, do not worry — this is a good thing. You will still experience the effects that come with getting high, but it will not bring you to an edge. Per observation, we have noticed a lot of people who do not prefer a strong buzz, but instead are looking for mild intoxication. So, delta-8 is an excellent choice if you are one of these people.
However, if you are a heavy smoker, delta-8 might not live up to your tolerance level, and you might just feel a light buzz.
In addition to this, if you add delta-8 in trace amounts to your food, you may not feel a high but rather just calming effects and a slight decline in anxiety. Delta-8 can also serve as a training period if you are looking for something stronger to get you high. It is better to first experiment with this product.
Is Delta-8 Federally Legal?
We just mentioned that hemp-derived delta-8 and marijuana products both come from the same family. You might be wondering if cannabis products are illegal, then surely delta-8 THC products must be too. Well, not exactly. This is not a yes or no question — it involves an in-depth explanation.
The Farm Bill passed in 2018 was the reason why products like delta-8 are growing in popularity. Under this bill, products derived from hemp plants are considered to be federally legal. However, there is a condition that the product has to contain less than 0.3% THC. Therefore, if any form of a cannabis-related product has a THC percentage of more than 0.3%, it is deemed illegal across the United States. But, since there are no laws against hemp, manufacturers have been growing delta-8 products under the 0.3% THC level, thus, making them legal.
Regardless, some states have chosen to ignore this federal rule and call delta-8 illegal. As a result, over a dozen states are currently not allowing the sale and distribution of delta-8 products. In addition to this, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (FDEA) proposed to rule delta-8 under Schedule I Controlled Substance. Still, that rule did not cross the proposed section and has not been finalized yet.
In August 2020, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) released an IFR (Interim Final Rule), which announced all synthetically-derived tetrahydrocannabinol would remain under the controlled substance section, making them illegal. This ruling, however, is over for review until October 2021. So, until then, businesses are trying their best to establish maximum profit-generating production.
If you live in any of the 12 states that declared delta-8 products to be illegal, you will be unable to buy or have these products delivered to you. The 12 states that banned these products include Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Montana, Mississippi, Rhode Island, and Utah.
Is Delta-8 THC Safe?
Ever since the vague legalization of delta-8 products, top companies are trying their best to provide the highest quality products in the safest condition. The rule mentioned above that delta-8 products should contain less than 0.3% THC makes it improbable for the product to be toxic or harmful.
However, the speedy incline in the purchase of delta-8 products has posed some serious threats. Many companies have picked up the sale of this product, and most of them do not go through with elaborate quality checking measures. The reason behind this lies in the preliminary ruling in regards to the legalization of delta-8. Since delta-8 has not been announced as a legal product, the unlicensed companies are not obligated to follow the expensive quality-checking protocols.
The Cannabis Council did comprehensive research, and they found some alarming results. Companies that were not following quality control procedures were releasing their products with higher THC and unsanitized packaging. More shocking news found revealed these products were available to children as well. All this posed a serious health hazard.
After you buy a product, there is no way to check whether it contains what it says on the label/ingredients portion unless you have it tested in a lab. High-end brands always display their lab results on their websites. Unlicensed brands are free to add whatever they want to their products. As a result, thousands of people have suffered from adverse effects over time.
In 2019, more than 2,000 vape users were taken to the E.R. under severe conditions. Around 68 of them died after contracting severe lung diseases such as VAPI. Unlicensed companies caused this by selling their vape oils with Vitamin E oil as a thickener. Upon inhaling vaporized Vitamin E, people fell victim to terminal lung diseases.
In 2021, U.S Cannabis Council issued a research team to buy and check unregulated products from unlicensed companies. Results showed that none of them were on the 0.3% level of THC. In addition to that, they contained metals like copper, lead, nickel, and chromium, which are fatal for the human body.
Since delta-8 has not been studied much, researchers are still unsure of how harmful this compound might get in concentrated form. The government has spent billions of dollars on proving why cannabis is not good for the human body. We urge you to trust only the most top-rated brands and buy their products from licensed stores online. We also advise you to avoid suspicious smoke rooms and shops.

How to Take Delta-8 THC
There are many ways in which you can take your delta-8 products. It solely depends on how you want your delta-8 experience to be. However, there is one thing to note here — ingesting delta-8 produces more potent effects than inhaling it.
With that being said, here are a few ways you can take your delta-8.
Edibles are a great way of ingesting delta-8. This usually includes gummies or hemp-infused edibles. Gummies are the most delicious way to consume delta-8, as they taste like regular candy, sometimes even better.
If delta-8 is taken in raw form, it is quite bitter. To get rid of this unpleasant experience, companies sell delta-8 in the form of gummies full of bursting flavors for you to choose from.
If you are looking for a strong buzz in no time, vaping is the best way to go. It gives you a buzz straight away along with providing you with clarity of mind and focus. If you want immediate effects, then this should be your pick.
However, there is a downside to this. As fast as the effects rise, they disperse just as quickly. So, while effects last longer with edibles, they wear off quicker with vapes.
Tinctures are one of the most popular ways to take delta-8. You just have to pour a few drops under your tongue, and you are good to go. The infused oil is absorbed by your sublingual cells, and you see effects quickly.
Tinctures are also popular because they give the best of both vaping and edibles. The oil is absorbed quickly but stays in the body for hours. The long-lasting effects of tinctures may include clarity and pain relief.
The only downside to this method is the taste. Since these oils are not combined with flavors, the overall taste is bitter, although washing it down might help with the lasting bitterness.
Delta-8 Dosage
As more and more people are willing to experiment with delta-8, you must know where to start and stop to avoid health risks. Every person has their own tolerance levels, so the dosage you take primarily depends on you.
Delta-8 products also have a considerable potency difference. For instance, delta-8 gummies have a lower potency level than edibles. Gummies come mostly in 10mg or 25mg, so half a gummy is an excellent place to start with.
The gummies’ packaging says you should wait a minimum of 45 minutes to see the effects. However, it can take up to four to five hours for the delta-8 product to reach its full potential. Similarly, edibles require around two to three hours to show their full effects. On the other hand, if you are a vape user, you would see results within ten minutes or less.
Delta-8 is not harmful given its low THC level, but that does not mean you should take a high dose altogether. If you take a higher amount than your body’s drug tolerance, you might feel an itch in your breathing passage. This will wear off soon, but it is quite frustrating while it lasts. The milder side effects include dryness of the mouth, red and itchy eyes, grogginess, sleep deprivation, and an increase in anxiety.
If you are new to vaping, two to three puffs will prove to be enough for you. However, if you do not feel anything immediately, we advise you to show some restraint and not increase your dose. Also, please note there is not much research regarding delta-8 yet, so the data we are providing is based on observations taken from a large batch of users.
Furthermore, here is a dosage chart for you to go through.
Beginners: If you are an amateur, 5mg-15mg is a safe place to start.
Intermediate Users: After a while, you will feel your tolerance building up. At this point, you can increase your dosage to 15mg-45mg.
Advanced Users: Advanced users are most familiar with their body’s tolerance, so you can adjust your dose anywhere above 45mg.
Effects of Delta-8 THC
The legally sold delta-8 products contain less than 0.3% THC, as we have mentioned. This makes the effects of this product potent, but not to the extent that it might send you into a spiral. With this concentration, delta-8 products have a lot of goodness to offer. We have listed some of the most prominent effects of ingesting delta-8 below.
One common effect seen in almost every delta-8 user is clarity of mind and clear-headedness. After some time of ingesting or inhaling any delta-8 product, people report experiencing raised spirits and happiness. They claim to have experienced feelings akin to being inspired. Moreover, they said they felt like they saw things more clearly, and ingesting the product helped sharpen their senses.
Researchers have linked delta-8 to neuroprotective protection. This compound also helps with brain health improvement by aiding in the growth of neurons.
Studies have shown that delta-8 aids in lowering chronic pain. Chronic pain usually surfaces as a result of inflammation. This shows delta-8 helps in decreasing pain levels along with inhibiting inflammation.
Many consumers have claimed taking delta-8 has helped with their physical pain-related ailments, as it reduces pain significantly. However, though many have experienced it, everyone might not feel the same way.
- Potential Antiemetic Properties
Many users have reported delta-8 helped them inhibit nausea. Researchers conducted a study on pediatric cancer patients who had chemotherapy-related nausea. The patients received doses of delta-8 before heading in for their treatment, and the results proved delta-8 helps with nausea, as the patients did not feel sick anymore.
Studies conducted in 2004 showed an experiment done on mice to stimulate their appetite. Mice were given a lesser dose of delta-8 for some time, and researchers found their appetite had increased.
This was a breakthrough, as delta-8 can be a potential treatment for people suffering from food-health-related problems. In addition, regular delta-8 users have also said intake of this cannabinoid helped improve their appetite.
Delta-8 THC VS Delta-9 THC
You might have heard of the famous delta-9 and, simultaneously, might be wondering whether delta-8 is related to delta-9. The answer is yes, they are related and more closely interlinked than you might think.
Delta-8 is a slightly different sibling of delta-9. However, the main difference is in their chemical structure. This difference occurs due to the placement of a double bond. Both delta-8 and delta-9 form one double bond in their arrangement on the carbon chain.
Delta-8’s double bond is found on the 8th carbon of the chain, as its name indicates. Similarly, delta-9’s double bond is located on the 9th carbon atom in the carbon chain. This might seem trivial, but it makes a huge difference when binding to the body’s endocannabinoid receptor.
Looking at the medicinal benefits next, it is evident that delta-8 is a better candidate regarding medicinal potential. This is because delta-8 is a more stable compound, as it does not readily convert into another compound, nor does it lose its molecular structure. Comparatively, delta-9 is less stable and is easily oxidized to become delta-8.
Delta-8 gives a clearer high in comparison to delta-9. This is primarily due to its binding nature with the CB1 receptor. The CB1 receptor is responsible for regulating the pathways and managing the hormonal levels. As a result, delta-9 gives a hazy high and does not relieve anxiety as much as delta-8 does.
Upon ingestion, both compounds convert into 11-hydroxy-THC in the liver. This causes more or less the same effects of delta-8 apart from the ones we mentioned above. However, it is imperative to keep in mind that delta-9 has been more extensively studied than delta-8. This means we do not know the full extent of delta-8’s molecular working upon consumption.
In Conclusion:
Delta-8 is a pleasure to have in the grey days. It will serve you as a best friend might in the most effective way. Selecting a product and a brand might seem like an overwhelming task, but that is why we are here for you.
A lot of variables come into play if you decide to use this product. It will serve you well as long as you do not abuse the drug or the law. We wish you the happiest of highs!

There’s no doubt when the weather turns colder as we settle into winter, stouts take center stage. And while we enjoy all its iterations: standard stout, imperial stout, and robust barrel-aged stouts, we think this malty, chocolate-filled beer’s close cousin deserves a little respect as well. Of course, we’re talking about the oft-overlooked porter. And the best porters, oh buddy, they’ll have you rethinking your seasonal bevvie of choice.
For those uninitiated, the porter style had its genesis in England like many other iconic beer styles. It first appeared in the 1700s and is (you guessed it) named after porters—individuals tasked with transporting luggage.
A confusing origin story
“Stout is the direct descendant of porter. In the 1700s, it was common to use the word ‘stout’ to refer to a bolder, higher-alcohol version of any beer style, much in the same way we use the word ‘imperial’ today,” says Zach Fowle, advanced cicerone and head of marketing for Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. in Phoenix, AZ. “Porter was the most popular beer of the day, and over time, “stout porter” became a popular variant. But by the late 1800s, demand for regular porters evaporated, and stout porter shortened simply to stout.”
But more has changed between the 1800s and today than just our penchant for wearing top hats. “Today, most brewers seem to market beers as either stout or porter based on vibes, rather than on any notable stylistic differences,” he says.
Specifically, porters are known for their dark, almost pitch-black color and rich, sweet flavor profile. If you were to drink a porter and a stout side by side, you might even have difficulty discerning the differences between the two.
Stout versus porter is an enduring topic of discussion in the brewing industry. “While there’s no debating the porter came first—and stout used to be called stout porter, so it was a stronger version of a porter—the lines have become very blurred over the years,” says Rob Lightner, co-founder of East Brother Brewing in Richmond, CA.
“I would venture that even among professionals, a blind taste test would often yield inconclusive results,” says Lightner.
The difference between porters and stouts
Porters tend to be on the milder, more chocolatey end of the spectrum, Lightner says, whereas stouts are typically a little stronger and more roasty. Of course, this isn’t a hard and fast rule
Fowle agrees, “Porters tend to be fruitier, sweeter, and less bitter than stouts, with cocoa and caramel flavors in balance with dark malt bitterness. And stouts are usually hoppier, drier, maltier, and more coffee-forward—and may even have a touch of acidity.”
Whether or not they fit neatly into boxes, one thing’s for sure: both make for incredible cold-weather brews.
“As the nights grow longer, drinking a light, summery beer just doesn’t seem right,” says Fowle. “Porter is the perfect style for the transition to winter: warming and toasty yet not too heavy, with flavors of coffee, chocolate, and pie crust that correspond with autumn weather and holidays.”
It’s the perfect time to broaden your repretoire. Sweet, robust, warming, and well-suited to the season, here are the best porters to drink now.
1. Deschutes Black Butte Porter
There are few porters more well-respected than Deschutes’ iconic Black Butte Porter. It’s brewed with Cascade and Tettnang hops as well as 2-row, Chocolate, Crystal, and Carapils malts as well as wheat. This 5.5% ABV year-round offering is great for cold-weather drinking because of its mix of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. It’s a robust, subtly sweet beer perfect for imbibing on a crisp fall night.

Best Time-Under-Tension Workout for Total-Body Strength

The key to 360-degree muscle: 90-degree eccentric isometrics. It might seem like we’re throwing a lot of geometry at you, but the concept behind time under tension (TUT) is simple, says Joel Seedman, PhD, owner of Advanced Human Performance: “Perform the lowering phase of a movement in a slow, controlled fashion, usually 3 to 5 seconds; pause in the stretched position, typically around 90 degrees; then perform the lifting phase in a powerful yet controlled fashion.” Believe us, a time-under-tension workout can humble even seasoned lifters…Eccentric isometrics are like the pressure cooker of training.
“Rather than mindlessly performing slow-tempo reps, you’re using the increased time under tension as a means to fine-tune your body mechanics and alignment, which requires more mental engagement and focus,” Seedman adds.
If you want to forge functional muscle mass and strength while simultaneously bulletproofing the joints and connective tissue, give this 10-move, full-body eccentric isometrics workout a go.
Directions
Perform the following moves as 90-degree eccentric isometrics following the above protocol. Use heavy weight, but not at the detriment of proper form. Rest 60 to 90 seconds between sets and 2 minutes between circuits. Perform once every 2 to 4 days for optimal results.
Best Time-Under-Tension Workout for Total-Body Strength
Circuit 1
A. Barbell Back Squat
Set a squat rack up with heavy weight, then grasp bar and step under it. Squeeze shoulder blades together, then stand to unrack bar and step back with feet shoulder-width apart. Inhale, hinge at hips and slowly bend knees to 90 degrees. Pause, keeping natural arch in low back, then extend through hips to powerfully stand. 3 x 4-6 reps
B. Renegade Row
Start in the top position of a pushup with hands shoulder-width apart on moderate-to-heavy dumbbells (shown). Explosively drive right elbow back to row dumbbell toward ribs while balancing on opposite hand and feet. Pause, then slowly lower weight, stopping a few inches above floor. Switch sides after all reps are done. 3 x 5 reps each side
Circuit 2
A. Dumbbell Bentover Row
Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding two moderate-to-heavy dumbbells in front of thighs, palms facing you. Push hips back and hinge torso forward so it’s nearly parallel to floor, soft bend in knees. Dumbbells should be near shins. Drive elbows back to row weights toward ribs. Pause, then slowly lower down for 3 to 5 seconds. 3 x 4-5 reps
B. Incline Dumbbell Chest Press with Legs Raised
Set an adjustable bench to a 30- to 45-degree angle and lie back with dumbbells in either hand. Engage core and lift legs off floor, flexing feet. Press weights overhead, palms in. Slowly lower to 90 degrees, staying tight and compact. Pause, then drive weights up directly over chest. 3 x 4-5 reps
Circuit 3
A. Dumbbell Bulgarian Squat
Stand lunge-length in front of a flat bench, holding heavy dumbbells in each hand by your sides, palms facing in. Rest the ball on top (shoe’s laces) of your right foot behind you on the bench. Slowly lower your body until your front thigh is parallel to the floor. Pause, then drive through your heel to stand. Switch sides after all reps are complete. 2 x 3-4 reps each side
B. Single-leg Romanian Deadlift
Stand with feet hip-width apart holding dumbbells or kettlebells. Drive right leg up, foot flexed, knee aligned with hip, making a 90-degree angle. Hinge at hips as you slowly lever your torso toward floor, lowering weights and driving right leg back for counterbalance. Hold, then squeeze glutes to reverse. 2 x 3-4 reps each side
Circuit 4
A. Pullup
Hang from a pullup bar using an overhand grip with legs extended and feet flexed. Engage lats and draw shoulders down your back, then pull yourself up until chin is higher than hands. Pause at the top, then slowly lower. Pause at bottom, then reset before your next rep. 2-3 x 4-5 reps
B. Kneeling Overhead Barbell Press
Hold a bar with moderate-to-heavy load at shoulder level with forearms perpendicular to floor. Kneel at end of bench with feet flexed to grip edge for support. Inhale, engage your core and glutes, then press the bar overhead, pushing your head forward so it passes your face, exhaling at the top.
Slowly lower until elbows are at 90 degrees, then hold to maintain tension. Begin your next rep from here. 2-3 x 4-5 reps
Circuit 5
A. Dumbbell Pushup
Place hands on dumbbells (this provides greater range of motion) at shoulder width and feet wider than shoulder width with just toes touching the ground. Keep head neutral and hips high to increase tension on core, chest and tris and reduce stress on spine. Slowly lower to the floor. Stop
once elbows hit 90 degrees, pause, then push up to start. 1-2 x 6-8 reps
B. Biceps Curl
Stand with feet hip-width apart with moderate-to-heavy dumbbells in each hand hanging by sides. Engage biceps to curl the weights up, keeping upper arms still. Pause at the top, then lower slowly. Don’t let arms drop all the way down to keep greater time under tension on biceps. 1-2 x 6-8 reps
