Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, just months after filing for divorce, shocked everyone when Kardashian appeared on stage in a Balenciaga couture wedding dress during West’s Donda listening event. West had literally just set himself on fire (no joke) and had the flames put out before he joined Kardashian. Fans watching the event on Apple Music wondered whether the moment symbolized them getting remarried.

TMZ got intel from sources about what it really meant. No, Kardashian and West are not back together. Sources “with direct knowledge,” TMZ wrote, told the outlet for weeks that “the two are NOT back together, but they’re forever family. Kim and Kanye have always supported the other’s endeavors and will continue to do that in the future, whether it be a collaborative effort or not. Our sources say Kim was happy to do it for Kanye and the event, which was so important to him.”
TMZ’s update comes after a source told People last week that Kardashian and West are definitely not romantically back together.
“Kim and Kanye have a friendly relationship,” the source said. “It’s always been important to Kim to have a good relationship with Kanye. They are not getting back together though. She accepted his lunch invitation earlier this week because they are at the point now when they can hang out. There are no hard feelings.”
E! was told by its own source close to Kardashian that “[they] finally feel like they are on the same page. They are truly enjoying each other’s company and want to catch up from time to time. The tension has subsided and they are good friends now.”
“They really love each other as friends,” the source added, noting they have good communication now. “It’s all working out nicely and they are happy they can do things together as a big family now, instead of keeping it separate.”
